Virgin Islands Yacht Charters
What's Happening in the Virgin Islands.(Thanks to Jan Critchley of the British Virgin Islands)
Fun on fisherman’s day:
On Territory Day, July 1st, head to Long Bay Beach, Beef Island
and take part in Fisherman’s Day. There are three categories
– trolling, reef fishing and the family tournament as well
as beach games such as swimming races, diving, tug-of-war, soldier
crab races and domino games. There will also be live music and
a fashion show. Registration is at Conservation and Fisheries
Department by June 30th and a valid fishing license must be obtained
to take part in the trolling and reef fishing categories. So get
out your bait, cast your line and who knows, the “Big One”
just might not get away!
Firecracker 500 & Chili Cook-off:
Don’t miss the Firecracker 500 Pursuit Race. The race starts
with a bang at Soper’s Hole in the morning and from there,
racers compete on the north side of Tortola. Registration is on
July 1st at the West End Yacht Club for the event the next day.
The Great Chili Cook-Off takes place at the Jolly Roger in the
afternoon, and all proceeds go to KATS. So join in the racing
action, cook up your meanest chili or just help judge the competition
– it’s going to be one hot night!
Race & Cruise to Jost van Dyke:
Cruising and racing fun for all the family is what’s happening
in June as the RBVIYC introduces a new addition to its sailing
program – the Race and Cruise to Jost Van Dyke. Family fun
is the key here as there will be two separate races, one for the
serious racers and one for those who prefer a more leisurely pace
and to race with their family and friends. Shoreside events will
also be arranged at Jost Van Dyke to make it a great day out for
all.
